And let’s be honest, the factory brakes that come on most 4WDs and SUVs are fine for everyday driving, but when you’re towing a couple of tonnes behind you, they can quickly start to struggle.

Why you need a brake upgrade for towing

Stock brakes are built for the average driver, not for heading down a steep descent with a bit (or a lot) of extra momentum from your caravan or camper. Stock vehicle brakes are designed for hauling nothing heavier than a couple of groceries and your family and dog in the back. But throw in a big van behind you, and things can get dicey pretty quickly if you don’t have enough stopping power.

Buy a Caravan or Camper Trailer?

We all start somewhere, some of us dip our feet and others dive right in. It often comes back to the size and type of tow rig we have that determines one’s limitations or some of us just want to keep it simple.

At Armadillo we are experiencing couples that have had the larger set-up now downsizing, some just because the family have flown the coop, others because they now have time to go to those out of the way spots, so the bigger van no longer suits.

We offer vans with just main beds and others with additional beds or fold-away bunks, so it is easy to take the grandies to some of those wonderful hideaways.
